I'm one of those people who can't resist the siren smell of woolly bluecurls'/cruels'/curse's minty grape soda scent. The first two I planted in our backyard didn't survive the summer. The third is small but very perky. It's on the cusp of its second season and now I'm the one who's stressed.

Withholding water over this summer must have helped. And I inadvertently took your advice on the rocks and gravel. Glad I found your substack -- this will be the fall and winter of getting a soil moisture meter and deep watering.

Bravo! Once a Woolly Bluecurls has made it through their first summer, its survival rate seems to go way up, so I'd say you're in good shape!
